Speaker: Demar Harris from Lake County Workforce
Lake County Workforce helps job seekers train for and find new jobs, and helps employers with proven labor
market solutions that include job fairs, pre-screened hiring, market information, outplacement services, on the-
job (OJT) training grants, and more. Comprehensive business services include recruitment and outplacement
solutions, employee and workforce training programs, management and information services,
and networking and funding opportunities.
Topics covered:
OJT – On the Job Training reimburses the employer a percentage of a newly hired individual’s wages based on the extraordinary training required of a new hire. A skill gap assessment along with a customized training plan is completed for each individual hired through an OJT. Workforce will reimburse 50% of the wages up to 1000 hours of training not to exceed $10,000 of reimbursement dollars, which is typically 6 months.
Work-Experience is a structured learning experience in a workplace setting targeted to the individual that is new to or disconnected from the labor force. Work experience is a paid or unpaid opportunity for the individual to gain new skills or apply newly learned skills and prepare for permanent and sustainable employment. Workforce will reimburse 100% of the wages up to 500 hours of internship hours for an $11/hr hourly rate.

It’s all about U! The Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce, the Village of Wauconda, and the Wauconda Area Library have joined forces to present various topics of interest to the business
community. These short educational seminars will be free or
at minimal cost to Chamber Members and businesses registered with the Village of Wauconda. Presentations are quarterly at lunch time in a BYO brown bag style. Additional times and dates may be added based on input.
